Because of the capability of Internet to reach out to a wider range of audience as compared to any other forms of media, many legitimate companies are turning to it to increase their chances of finding highly qualified resources to work for their companies.  Companies seek the expertise of a competent freelancer to be able to complete certain work for the company in order to minimize their operational expenses.  Unfortunately, not all of the companies that are advertising work from home opportunities on the Internet are what they seem.  With the difficulty in regulating the many different websites sprouting up all over the Internet, there tend to be some fraudulent companies and individuals too that use this far-reaching ability of the Internet in order to scam thousands of victims by offering them work from home opportunities.

In such circumstances, many people are now confused about the job opportunities that are posted over the Internet as to which ones are legitimate and which ones are down-right scams.  To be able to spot a work from home scam, watch out for the following tell-tale signs.

Fee Requirements

The number one tell-tale sign that a work from home opportunity is a scam is the requirement of a fee you need to pay in order to get more information about that work from home opportunity, or to be able to acquire the materials, equipment and training needed to begin this work from home opportunity.  Legitimate companies that offer freelancing jobs and give you the chance to work at home do not require any such fees for you to start.  If there is any such money involved, it usually is deducted from your salary paid to you by the company for the work that you are going to do for them.

Level of Experience

Another warning sign of a work from home scam is the stress on the fact that no experience is required to start.  Just like applying for any conventional job the old-fashioned way, companies would require that their freelancers are adept and able to complete the jobs that they require and for the amount that the company is willing to pay to the freelancer.

Unrealistic Profits

Work from home scams would always promise huge, often unrealistic profits that you can earn within a short period of time.  They would often do this by posting images of their earnings and testimonials made by people that you have absolutely no way of being able to verify.  Realistically speaking, the only way that you would be able to earn reasonable sums of money is to start small and slowly make your way up as your level of experience grows.
